Luke Manton developed Tourette’s as an adult after developing a brain tumour. Since then, he has become a passionate educator about how Tourette’s has affected his life, sharing personal experiences to highlight some of his daily challenges - with a lot of laughs along the way, too. A business founder and new dad, he’s shown that an adult-onset Tourette’s diagnosis doesn’t have to hold you back from creating the life you deserve.
Tourettes Action has been paramount in supporting Luke during this huge transition in his life, and he deeply believes in their mission and the work they do. Their support groups were a lifeline when he needed them most, and he’s dedicated to helping them carry on changing lives for the better.
Paul Stevenson's Capturing Creativity workshop is excited to sponsor this year's Tourettes Action Creativity Awards (#TACA), an online event celebrating the creativity of young people (under 18) and adults (18+) in the UK living with Tourette Syndrome (TS). The awards offer a platform for individuals with TS to showcase their artistic talents, highlighting their unique perspectives and contributions.
Workshop Objectives:
As an Ambassador at Genius Within, Paul Stevenson is committed to supporting neurodivergent individuals, helping them discover and develop their creative talents through this workshop.
Tourettes Action has worked in England, Wales and Northern Ireland since 1981 and is the leading support, services and research charity for people with Tourette Syndrome (TS) and their families. The charity wants people with TS to receive the practical support and social acceptance they need to help them live their lives to the full. TS is an inherited, neurological condition, the key features of which are tics, involuntary and uncontrollable sounds and movements.
TS is a complex condition and a large number of people with the condition will also experience co-occurring features and conditions. It is estimated that TS affects one school child in every hundred and more than 300,000 children and adults in the UK live with the condition.
